(Or how do get rid of that odd bottle of chardonnay!)
So for me, 2018’s about trying new things and I just discovered this whole new world of white wine cocktails. I know, I may be a bit late to the game but these cocktail recipes gave me an excuse to empty a few lackluster bottles usually held on deck for that unexpected dinner party or the in-laws. Whichever comes first right? Obviously using better ingredients yields better drinks.
1) Chardonnay Slushie
Here’s the ingredient checklist; 3 to 4 ounces of Chardonnay, 1 cup of frozen lemonade concentrate, 1/2 cup of white peach puree and a 1/2 cup of green apple puree. Basically, we’re blending white wine with frozen lemonade so there really isn’t a need to get too scientific with this one. Taste frequently before serving. Jokes aside, this is pretty awesome and should definitely be in your drink repertoire for the first hot day we get.
2) Poison Apple
This is going to use Sauvignon Blanc, precisely 2-1/2 ounces, with 1 ounce of simple syrup and 1 ounce of sour apple schnapps. Shake with ice, strain and serve with a couple of thin apple slices. Yikes this goes down easy……
3) Mohito Grigio
Honestly, pretty self-explanatory if you’re familiar with muddling mint but here it goes anyway. Start by muddling a solid pinch of mint leaves in the bottom of a glass. Add 2 tablespoons of fresh lime juice, 1 tablespoon of sugar and 1.5 ounces of seltzer water to your efforts. Pour in 2 ounces of pinot grigio and 1.5 ounces of your favorite white rum. Stir vigorously with ice and garnish with a lime wedge. Cheers!
4) The Irish Clover
I had to come up with something for Saint Patrick’s Day so this is basically like a green sangria and will work well for any afternoon entertaining (we’re making a pitcher, this is not all for you); 3 cups of pinot grigio, 3 cubs of soda water,1 cucumber peeled and sliced and 3 kiwis peeled and sliced. Add ice to your pitcher, stir well and serve to your friends.
